The NY Horror Show made its way to Hauppauge, Long Island this month. The independent film festival which showcases filmmakers of all things horrific, science fiction, strange and Macabre was a hit. Started in 2012, the annual creepy film festival was held at the UpSky hotel in Hauppauge January 16-18.
For those who love the horror genre it was a treat to see such an event making it’s way to the Island. Some of this year’s celebrity guests included special affects and make-up artist Cleve Hall, Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist), Sharon Lentz (Dark Shadows 1966-1971), Warrington Gillette (Friday the 13th Part II) and many other others. A special screening of Army of Darkness was held and included in the purchase of you Saturday tickets.
The event held two full days of movie screenings including movies such as PainKiller, Human Wreckage, Creeper, Monster Island, Death Follows and many more. Some of the panels included Women In Horror, “How To Die Like A Pro” with Heather Drew, a Zombie Pin Up Contest, the Comedy Roast of Paul Gmitter and even a Costume Contest! Of course lets not forget the Zombie Bagpiper that lended a hand with his musical talents.
The event kicked off Friday night with a red carpet award ceremony, honoring best horror films, best suspense/thriller, best dark horror comedy, best documentary.
