As any New Yorker knows, NYC is the epicenter of cool and unique things to do. So when visiting the city, it’s not uncommon to ditch “dinner and a movie night” and try out some cool venues.
Urban Popp headed over to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! on Saturday afternoon for a day full of fun. Known for impressing both children and adults with unique displays, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! not only has amazing replicas but they also house some of the world’s most famous and awe inspiring relics such as an albino giraffe, authentic Shuar or Jivaro shrunken heads, and a train made of matchsticks. Literally, all matchsticks!
Ripley’s has a collection of over 25, 000 pieces of weird and unusual things from around the world. Some of the replicas and artifacts include: The world’s tallest man (**spoiler alert** he’s over 8 feet!), Lizard Man (Erik Sprague), the world’s heaviest/largest man, an actual Vampire Killing Kit which was known to sell for a whopping $22, 000 back in the day (our personal favorite), torturing devices, and amazing artwork made form spiderwebs, staples, and stamps! Can you believe it?
Ripley’s earned one of the top spots on our Favorite Places to Visit list and Urban Popp can’t wait for our next visit. Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is one place you have to see when visiting NYC. Believe it!
